THE GOOD:
Agility milestones for Connery Beagle! Now that he’s earned a MACH3, Connery is running in Preferred classes (that is, jumping four inches lower). He was always the shortest and heaviest dog in his jump height…Beagles are meant to be sturdy little things. And he likes it Very Much!
He’s qualified in eleven of his twelve runs since then, and taken first place each time. At ten years old there’s no telling how long he’ll have this much joy in running, but right now we’re having a blast with it!
Agility milestones for Dart Beagle! Dart’s progress is considerably more variable. When he’s good, he’s very very good. When he’s not, he’s OMG YOU MUST BE KIDDING. So the entertainment value is high either way.
This past weekend, a number of milestones ticked over for Mr. Dart.
He earned his MX (Masters Agility: Ten Qs (qualifiers) on a standard course). He earned his MJB (Masters Jumpers Bronze: 25 Qs on a jumpers course).
And with his tenth QQ and over 400 speed points, he’s now halfway to earning his MACH. I have no illusions that the second half will come any more easily than the first…
THE BAD:
I lied. There isn’t any bad here. But I wanted it in the title. Because “The Good and The Silly” just wasn’t doing it for me.
THE SILLY:
This. This is the silly.
Great pix. Making a good jump is so much easier with the tongue sticking out.
One must concentrate! But also, not bite the tongue while jumping…
lol love the silly 🙂 My cocker Blue and I have a jumpers show this weekend so looking forward to that as he’s doing quite well in jumpers classes. We seem to have issues with nailing the weaves first pop in the ring but not in training so having a weekend of fun over just jumpers courses will be good.
Oh and Awesome (needed a capital) that Connery is enjoying the reduced height so much.
Isn’t it great? 8)
Weaves can take a while. Ask Chase Cardigan… And good luck this weekend!
I like the ears, tail and tongue all up and alert.
The tongue is actually a little apology for nearly overshooting this jump when he lost handler focus. He’s not really driving over the jump, either…he’s regathering his confidence. All part of the silly boy paradigm!
Hurray for Connery Beagle! Long may he run! (And jump and weave and….) And may His Dartness develop focus! (Were there ever two Beagles on more different brain waves?
They’re amazingly different, aren’t they? Completely different operating systems (over the basic OS, anyway!)
Love the tongue! And the ears! And the tail! Just makes me smile!
Me too. Isn’t he fun?
