It had been a mild fall and winter, it is February now, and it is light until nearly 6 pm, so shouldn’t it be warm(ish–like highs in the 40’s or something?) during the day?

This last year, Lucy really matured physically, and I often look at her and think how strong and balanced she has become! Yes, yes. Bias all over the place.

Suffragette CD is living with Christy’s colt Gino so the two babies can play and roam on Christy’s ten acres. I go by about once a week for a play date, and last weekend we had a pony party!

In the horse show world, a senior horse is not at all old. Junior is five and under. Senior is six and up. Lucy is six this year and so she is now a senior horse!

I wanted a horse of my own, in my own back yard, ever since I was very little. Now I get to wake up every day, and there they are, being their silly or bossy or pesty selves.

Christy and I were going to have a great adventure driving to the U.S./Canadian border at Sweet Grass, Montana over Christmas to pickup our 2021 Appaloosa models, Gino (Drivers Seat) and Gette (Suffragette CD), bred by Heather McLevin and Jim Dobler at Thunderstruck Ranch. But then new COVID restrictions made a quick back and forth crossing difficult. I was both disappointed (that would have been a fine blog, I could have seen Stacy Boswell, and met Heather in person!) and relieved (who cares if it is a high of -12 F in Sweet Grass and the wind is blowing 100 mph in Wyoming?).

Two thousand twenty one was not a bad year.
We had 19 head that came through here.
Six were colt starts, which I do still like,
And eight went a showing, (and Jim brought his bike).

Here are a couple of tips for Christmas Hat pictures, which, as we will see, I apparently don’t follow all that well.

We just got back from five days in New Orleans where all the walking somewhat offset all the eating.

I only took one picture this week: Gette, the new filly’s, new halter. They have not met yet. We (me, Gette, the halter) will all be together Dec. 27 after Christy and I make the 1300 mile drive from NM to the Canadian border. Merry Christmas to us! We will be picking up Gette and Christy’s boy, Gino.
