Holiday of Fun Winter Fiesta Show Series

By Patty Wilber

Last weekend, I was lucky enough to judge the first show of the Holiday of Fun Winter Fiesta Show Series which is being put on by Lia Jessen at Forever West Performance Horses.

The theme was Halloween, and I even made an attempt to dress the part…Which no one really seemed to think was a big deal, but I am telling you, it was! ALL my clothes were orange and black and I even wore a tiny witches hat and let my hair poof out all over.  I mean, I went all out!

Photo from the show but I do not know who took it. I got it from the show face book page.

It was a beautiful day and a fine turn out!  The atmosphere was laid back and there were a bunch of kids showing for the very first time. Lesson horses were used, private horses were used and horses were shared among kids and adults! And it was not just your stock type horses.  We also had Arabians, Tennessee Walkers, Missouri Fox trotters, mules, donkeys, and a Belgian draft!

If you are looking for a place to get a first taste of showing, or just have fun, this might be exactly the series to attend!

Next month, maybe I will bring one of my youngsters!

About BlogPatty

Here's the skinny: I have a thing for horses. They make sense to me. I have a small horse training business (it's a "boutique" training business, not because it's super fancy, but because the horses get a lot of personal attention). I also go by Dr. Wilber, and teach biology full-time at a Central New Mexico Community college.
