Just in time for solstice, we had an Unexpected Snowstorm of Great Beauty. In fact, as far as I can tell–locally, anyway–only this small area in the windward foothills of the Sandias had the full storm. High desert microclimates rule!
Naturally, out came the camera…
I couldn’t bring myself to limit these snow pics to the narrow blog column, so…here’s a gallery, and there are nice big piccies on the other side of the click. Your back space key will bring you back here to the gallery!
Have a happy solstice time and a great next year!
- The view in the morning…
- Lots of snow for a forecast of a 1-2″…
- Starting to clear to the NW
- These trees are laden and waiting!
- To the SW. I love how the clouds play in along the mountains
- It’s still dark here on our side of things, but the sun is spreading
- All glittery sunshine and shadows in the distance
- Duncan had an Opinion about the snow
- He’s getting older and not feeling so well, but he still has The Trot
- Come noon time, and there’s more snow moving in. Click through to the big image and you can see the snow blowing off the trees all across the mountains
- Shadow here, light there…more shadows on the way!
- Just to look up close. Love this place!
Those pictures of Duncan are just magical. White horse, white snow—beautiful.
It was wonderful to see him prancing around!
Wasn’t that weird? No snow in Edgewood and 5-6 inches here! It was lovely!
That was a strange thing–it just hunkered in over us!
