Restraint? Moi?
Well, yes. In that this year, I’m not dressing the dogs up, hanging ornaments from their ears, wrapping them in scarves, or posing them to look brightly at the camera.
It’s been a hard year for so many of us. In particular, I find myself regretting once more the impact that Lyme has had on my life, and on my ability to stay connected to the people who are important to me.
And yet…
There’s always something to be thankful for, and gifts on the way.
This year, ConneryBeagle’s holiday gift to me was to go out in the field and persist like crazy on his certification track (allows us to enter the Tracking Dog test in January), in spite of a stealth sinus infection (now being treated) and a Very Unfortunate Encounter with a Cactus.
In my world, we celebrate Christmas. But wherever you’re coming from this time of year, I hope you’re having a good one, with things to be thankful for.
Yay for ConneryBeagle and I hope he feels better now. Yay for you and your persistence in spite of everything, too.
We wish you and yours as merry a Christmas as it’s possible to have.
Backatcha!
Connery is perking up. He never did feel truly bad–it just had an impact on his sniffer. (His infections are up very high and dry, so they’re quite stealth and cause more headache issues than sniffer issues.)
Ironically, because I have things under better control and his health swings aren’t as wild, lately that makes it a bit harder to peg what’s going on and when. And because he was in such good physical shape from the PT, that helped obscure the fact that he’d twisted his stifle, which led to the psoas injury… (Now it would be easier to see, because he’s lost muscle due to increased use of his inhaler due to seasonal dryness with the wood stove…)
Anyway, he had a happy Christmas Eve, and curled up beside Family to snooze with a lot of Beagle Gravity while watching the room with eyebrow radar. “You don’t see me! I am an immovable object!”
What a great way to celebrate the holidays. So much for our promised white stuff
We still have a bit of snow in the shadows, but… *pout*
Merry Christmas!!!
Merries back at you!
